ABOUT US

In 1978 Les Budd began his musical journey with 5 other members, where Spotty Mulldoon, a Comedy show group, was formed. They were based in Manchester and entertained a variety of audiences in clubs, pubs and corporate events traveling around the UK until 1986 when Les decided to embark on a solo career.

Singing locally around Manchester and traveling back to his home town of Portsmouth gave him the decision to relocate back here permanently. In 2004, Les decide to follow his love of Soul and Motown, a passion held for many years.

He produced a remit of songs around this subject and began “treading the boards” to build his new profile around the South Coast working under the stage name of Billy Budd, a tribute to artists such as Barry White, Lionel Richie, Nat King Cole to name but a few.

2005 bought an added bonus of working for a Radio Station in Portsmouth as a DJ playing Soul and Motown.

2006 was a year to remember. A completely different side of Les!!! He diverted to a brief but lucrative period where he wrote and recorded a song for the football fans of Portsmouth called 'Pompey Soul'. This gave him the opportunity to sing at the Portsmouth Guildhall and at other various Charity events - the song was played on local radio stations where Les was interviewed.

In 2008 Les and his partner Jan decided to get married; while organising their wedding reception they both realised that this can cause tremendous anxiety when trying to find entertainment in their local area for their guests.

After their wedding and finally finding an act, both Les and Jan decided to launch their own entertainment agency. Ave It! Entertainments was born; since launching the agency they have provided some of the countries best-known bands, duos and solo artists, as well as other variety of acts from magicians to bag-pipe players.
